CONTROL WITHIN REACHThe PX-A 3-Channel Mixer and Headphone Amplifier is a beltpack unit that accepts three audio signals, lets you mix them however you like, and passes on the mixed signal to your in-ear monitors, earphones or headphones.
CHOOSE YOUR SOURCES
You choose what you need to hear and adjust as needed during performance. Singers, for example, need to control their own volume, but will also need to hear whatever instruments they rely on for a pitch reference. So Input 1 might be an aux mix including only their vocal—or a mix of all vocals with their voice loudest; Input 2 could have a mix of guitar and keyboards, and Input 3 could be a mix of bass and kick drum. This is just one example!
APPLICATIONS
Whether you’re a singer or an instrumentalist—or both—the PX system lets you hear what you want to hear on stage, in the studio or in rehearsal.
FOR SINGERS
If you’re a singer, you really need to hear your own voice loud and clear, so you don’t strain your voice. But you also need to hear the instruments because you need a solid pitch reference to make sure you sing in tune. You also want to hear and feel the rhythm so you can keep your singing in the groove!
FOR INSTRUMENTALISTS
If you play an instrument, you want to hear what you’re playing loud and clear so you don’t wear out your fingers, and so that the subtleties of your playing matter. But you need to hear the vocals to keep you in touch with the structure (and the emotion) of the song; and you need to hear the drums so you not only play in time, but groove well with the group.
FOR DRUMMERS
If you’re a drummer, you want to hear the drums well enough to have an accurate sense of your balance within your kit, and so you can feel the impact of your kick and snare. You need to hear the bass in order to function well as a rhythm section; you need to hear the vocals to help keep you oriented in the song structure; and you need the energy and rhythm of guitars and keyboards.
A SNAKE YOU CAN TRUST
The PX-A Mixer receives audio from a mixing console via the PX-B 3-Channel Snake. The snake’s three XLR plugs (or included XLR-to-1/4” TS adapters) connect to outputs (typically aux outputs) from the console, or other audio sources such as a drum machine or audio interface. Then the included 25-foot EC25 Cat 5 Cable sends the audio to the input of your PX Mixer.
POWER OPTIONS
The PX-A Mixer can be powered by two AAA batteries—or, more reliably, a 9V / 2A center-negative power supply connected to the PX-B Snake (we recommend the Xvive A2 Power Supply). The ethernet cable, which can be up to 200 feet long, conveys both the audio from the console and the PoE (Power over Ethernet) from the power supply!
MIX AND PAN
Not only can you adjust your master earphone/headphone volume and the levels of your three chosen channels, but you can also pan the channels (left, right or center) using DIP switches located inside the PX-A’s battery compartment. This can help you hear better by isolating the channels.
RELIABLE SIGNAL AND SOUND QUALITY
The locking Cat 5 cable connector on the PX-A ensures that your Ethernet cable stays connected during performance. Audio signals are transmitted digitally up to 200 feet, without degradation, via Ethernet—and thanks to the PX-A’s high-quality preamp and internal circuitry, you will enjoy pristine audio at all times.
EXPAND FOR A BAND
If you’re performing, recording or rehearsing with a band of up to five people, you can expand your PX system with the PX-H 5-Channel Hub. Each additional bandmember would need their own PX-A Mixer and Ethernet cable, but only one PX-B Snake and one power supply would be needed to send audio to the Hub and supply all connected Mixers with power.
