Turning your home into a professional-sounding studio is no longer a dream. Shop online or stop by a Tom Lee Music store today to browse our wide selection of recording mics, recording equipment, and recording accessories.
Whether you are a concert pianist, an up-and-coming producer, or you just want to start recording your own original music, building your very own at-home recording studio has never been easier (or more affordable!).
At Tom Lee Music, we have a world-class selection of gear needed to transform any home or room into a legitimate studio.
Here is a list of the recording equipment you will need to buy to be able to achieve a professional sound.
The centrepiece of any studio, if you buy a truly great recording mic, then you will be able to produce high quality music - even in Hong Kong!
While it might be tempting to cut costs on your recording accessories, we recommend spending a bit more on your microphone. Investing in a quality microphone will enable you to capture the right frequency of the instruments you will be recording.
You will also probably want to invest in a microphone stand, as well as some sort of cover foam (otherwise referred to as windscreens and pop filters).
Simply put, the audio interface is the central connection point. This is where you plug in your mic, guitars, bass, and other instruments and then record everything via USB. You can also connect your audio interface to your headphones or speakers so you can hear the recorded audio in real-time.
There are two types of headphones that you might want to consider for your home recording studio…
A quality studio monitor is a must-have recording accessory if you want to record a great sound. Studio monitors are essentially speakers that are specially designed for audio production - they keep frequencies flat, which results in a purer sound.
Mic cables are different from other cables, as they have an XLR plug designed specifically for microphones. While you don’t need to invest a lot of money into your XLR cables, you still won’t want to purchase the cheapest option available, as they will likely break quickly.
With the above gear, you can record professional-sounding music that can easily be uploaded to Spotify, Apple Music, and Soundcloud.
