【A brief of acoustic guitar】

Throwback to the 18th century, woods are already a mainstream materials of guitars’ manufacture and it brings out the natural aesthetic of music. Till now, we simply synchronized our impression between wooden-guitars and acoustic guitars, and the most expensive guitar in the world is also made of wood. But, why the wooden-guitars? What’s the influence of applying different woods on guitars?

Throughout the manufacture, applying different woods will bring out different tones. For example, Koa with a greater mass will result in a clean and clear tone. Maple with a higher intensity will result in a bright and long sustain tone.

Different parts of guitar also require different woods in order to bring the perfect sound, as the woods will directly affect the vibrations of sounds and generate corresponding tones. The body mostly determines the colors, warmth and saturation of the sound, and the side / back are mostly about the sustain, space and the coherence of the sound within a guitar.

Take the Taylor’s signature 800 & 900 series acoustic guitar as an example, Sitka Spruce is used as the top wood which brings a balanced sound quality and with a warm mid-low frequency, it’s perfect for all-kind of performances.

For side and back, Indian Rosewood is one of the best for big guitar brands. For side and back, Indian Rosewood is one of the best materials for big guitar brands. The side and back of some well known models of Martin’s Standard Series and Modern Deluxe Series are made by this wood. Such as D45, D28, OM42, D42 and D41 of Standard Series, and 000-28MD, OM28MD, D238MD of Modern Deluxe Series. It performs a firm and thick low frequency with bright mid frequency, and it performs well with the Spruce’s guitar body. Besides the application of different woods, the combinations of woods and the paints will affect the final sound of guitars. The sound will also shift by ages, and becomes an experienced and real sound. Compared with the carbon fiber, the sound of carbon fiber-guitars are constant, hence, the wooden-guitars always give you the humanized and personalized sounds.

As the wooden manufacturer has lower cost and flexible choices, the variate prices can fulfil almost all the customers. Today, the technology of carbon fiber manufacture is not yet ubiquitous and the cost of carbon fiber is much more expensive, guitars with the same quality will serve a higher price instead.

Music as an expression of oneself, it’s important to be unique. And the personalized aesthetic can not be replaced by the carbon fiber-guitars yet.

Your music will be one of the only with your personality.
