Tama Soundworks Snare Drums are versatile, affordable drums for the professional or hobbyist. They're fairly simple in terms of drum design, but they sound great - if you don't need a lot of bells and whistles, this 6.5" x 14" maple model may be right up your alley.
The shell on this drum is constructed from six plies of maple, totaling 5mm thick. Maple is naturally open, warm, resonant, and balanced between high/mid/low frequencies - it's the wood of choice for the majority of wooden snare drums.
The bearing edges are cut to an exacting 45 degrees on the inside, and rounded on the outside, to give you a slightly overtone-muted sound with plenty of ring left over.
The 10-hole Sound Arc Hoops are softer on your hands than true die-cast hoops, but they provide more rim shot cut and bright attack than a standard flanged hoop. Bridge lugs looks classy and contact less surface area of the shell for a fuller sound.
The dimensions on this drum are full-sized, giving you a lot of power and a wide range of tuning capabilities. It comes with an Evans G1 Coated Batter Head.
