With its natural brightness, the Pearl 14" x 3.5" Task-Specific Free Floating Birch Piccolo Snare Drum fits perfectly into what you want from such an instrument. Crisp, high-pitched, and warm.
Free Floating lugs do not touch the 6-ply, 5.4mm shell at all, letting it ring as much as it possibly can. Wooden shells can get choked off with too much equipment, but that's not the case here. Die-cast hoops keep your tuning true even after thousands of rimshots, and you can crank the drum sky high.
Pearl has included the SR-160F Click-Lock Snare Strainer, which locks the lever and tension adjuster wherever you want it. The drum also comes fitted with a Remo Coated Ambassador batter head.
